Whose words you’re reading

I’m a Chicago-based environmental journalist. My focus is climate change, particularly antidotes and adaptations to it being explored in the Midwest. I’ve recently written about a multibillion-dollar federal investment in hydrogen energy, how Illinois farmers can help Louisiana shrimpers and the potential to fuel airplanes with corn

How did I find myself here?

It all started during an internship with Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia, a state built on the coal industry. While simultaneously learning about the toxic impacts of fossil fuels and speaking with miners who knew no other way of life, I realized climate solutions are economic, social and political as much as they are technological.

So, I decided to put my knack for words and love of a good story toward explaining why the climate is changing, how it’s affecting us and what we can do about it. Thoughtful, thorough journalism inspires empathy, builds bridges and catalyzes the perspective shifts necessary to confront the climate crisis before us.
